Explorer les cartographies du care à travers le dessin ethnographique : une approche attentive aux corps-territoires en proie à la violence sociale
Abstract
This article explores the application of care as an ethical and methodological approach in geography, grounded in feminist methodologies that challenge extractive academic practices. It specifically discusses how care is integrated into ethnographic drawing, emphasizing respectful engagement with individuals in contexts of social violence. The text delves into a field study conducted in an unauthorized LGBTQ+ market in Mexico City during the summer of 2022. This market served as a site of self-care and resistance against heightened social violence during the COVID-19 pandemic. The ethnographic drawings not only illustrate the physical and emotional landscapes of the subjects (referred to as « body-territories ») but also emphasize a collaborative representation that respects the dignity of participants and the situated perspective of the researcher. Additionally, the article critiques the conventional scientific claims of objectivity and neutrality, proposing a less hierarchical relationship in fieldwork to transform socio-spatial relations, highlighting the interconnectedness of bodies and territories. It proposes an effort to conduct research on them that is free of domination.
