Rezension: Widerstand gegen den Nationalsozialismus auf dem Gebiet des heutigen Rheinland-Pfalz – Wissenschaftliche Darstellung und Materialien für den Unterricht

Abstract

The publication by Dieter Schiffmann, Hans Berkessel and Angelika Arenz-Morch provides reworked historical sources as well als didactical help dedicated to the topic „Widerstand gegen den Nationalsozialismus auf dem Gebiet des heutigen Rheinland-Pfalz“ („Resistance against the national-socialism in the area of todays Rhineland-Palatinate“). The volume proves important when it comes to the didactical state of affairs concerning the mentioned topic. „Scientifical depiction and material for history lessons“ – This claim will be verified by Katharina Ücgül and Dominik Kasper. First of all the volume contains some texts which grant an overview over every aspect of the resistance against the national socialists in todays Rhineland-Palatinate. Furthermore, regional points of view and examples of various political dissidents were included to draw a finely detailed picture of the historical events. The main focus, however, is the second, didactical part of the work which contains source material for history classes and worksheets which may help teachers with creating their history lessons. The 28 worksheets will be reviewed critically and their practibility will be discussed. Hence, the final result of the analysis comes to a positive conclusion. Considerations concerning the problematization and further differentiation of the concept of resistance as well as possibilities of pedagogical communication are included, allowing a precise evaluation of the limits and possibilities of the volume.
