A leukocytoclastic vasculitis successfully treated with hyperbaric oxygen
Abstract
We are presenting a case of a 27-year old femalesuffering from non-healing, recurrent, painfululcers on her left lower leg, affected by minortrauma, and resulting from underlying cutaneousleukocytoclastic allergic vasculitis. After twoyears of conventional systemic therapy and aggressivetopical wound care she was presentedto the Division of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy.A hyperbaric oxygenation was applied as monotherapy. After 40 sessions a complete regressionof all skin defects was achieved. Several previousgood experiences and this successful treatmentencourage us to advocate for the hyperbaricoxygen as a mono or adjuvant therapy for such ahard-to-treat problem.
