A new evaluation method of mixed-grain in finite element simulation during ring-rolling of superalloy
Abstract
A new evaluation method for mixed-grain structures caused by incomplete recrystallization during the ring-rolling of superalloys has been established. This method can accurately predict the microstructure uniformity of ring forgings, demonstrating good agreement with experimental results. By applying the established method, the influence of initial grain size on the microstructure uniformity of ring forgings was systematically analyzed. The results revealed that the initial grain size condition can be assessed more rigorously, leading to significantly improved microstructure uniformity in the final forging. Additionally, this evaluation method is not only applicable to the analysis of initial grain size but can also be extended to investigate the effects of other process parameters. Furthermore, it holds potential for broader applications in other hot deformation processes, such as cogging or die forging.
