Los archivos universitarios: Instituciones básicas para la historia de la educación. The university archives: basic institutions for the history of education.
Abstract
(ES) Cuando se ha investigado sobre el pasado de las universidades, lógicamente, se ha acudido a los archivos universitarios. Sin embargo, estos archivos no sólo van a disponer de la documentación referente a la propia universidad, sino que son de indispensable consulta para conocer la historia de la educación en España y la de cada una de las provincias de su distrito más allá de la propia institución. Aunque hasta principios del siglo XX solo existían en 10 provincias, a lo largo del siglo pasado, se fueron abriendo universidades en muchas ciudades españolas, sobre todo en el último cuarto de la centuria, a las que les han ido donando los fondos de instituciones educativas existentes previamente a la misma universidad y que actualmente gestionan y se encuentran dentro de su patrimonio documental. En este artículo queremos hablar de los fondos que tienen las universidades en sus archivos y que no se refieren a la Universidad: Colegios Mayores y Menores, Universidades Menores, En-señanza Secundaria y Profesional, enseñanza primaria, Colegios privados y por último haremos mención a algunos fondos que han sido donados a las universidades para su conservación y que nos pueden ayudar a conocer mejor nuestra historia educativa. (EN) When it has been investigated about the past of the universities, of course, we went straight to the university archives. However, these files do not only contain the documentation about the University itself, they are also very important documents which contain essential information to learn about the history of education in Spain and in each of the provinces of his district beyond the institution itself. Although until the beginning of the XX Century there were only in 10 provinces, throughout the last century, many universities were opened in several Spanish cities, especially in the last quar-ter of the century, which have been provided with funds from the previously existing educational institutions to the university and which currently manage and are inside their documentary herit-age. In this article we want to talk about the funds that the universities have in their files and which do not relate to the University, such as: Minor and Major colleges, universities, secondary and voca-tional education, primary education, private schools and finally we will mention some funds that have been donated to universities for its conservation and that can be very helpful to understand some better our educational history.
