Results of the use of Heberprot-P®
Abstract
Introduction: diabetes mellitus is one of the most important in the twenty-first century by the high morbidity and mortality associated with complications health problems. It is a disease of major importance in terms of public health throughout the world for being one of the most common non-communicable and that has increased dramatically in the past 25 years. One of the most frequent complications of diabetic foot ulcer associated with neurological, vascular and infectious disorders. Objective: to describe the results of Heberprot-P® in diabetic foot ulcers in patients treated in the Department of Angiology and Vascular Surgery. Methods: an observational, descriptive, cross-sectional study was conducted among patients at "Arnaldo Milian Castro" Surgical Clinic Hospital of the City of Santa Clara, Villa Clara Province, in the period from January to December 2012. Results: predominated male patients from 60 to 69 years and grades 2, 3 and 4 of the Wagner and the neuroinfectious criteria of Mc Cook ranking. Most of the patients had a location of your ulcer on the right lower limb and fingers. The effectiveness of treatment with Heberprot-P® was significantly high. The comparison between treated and untreated with Heberprot-P® showed that the number of major amputations of the first was much smaller. Conclusions: Heberprot-P® therapy was effective and significantly reduced the number of major amputations in this center.
