The modular teaching system: a curricular alternative of university higher education in Mexico

The work aims to, in a very brief space, exhibit the characteristics of our educational model, called Modular system, in particular for what it does to its curricular structure based on transform objects, concept of piagetian origin, which, in turn, Santaolalla with the concepts of interdisciplinarity and operating group. Described all this in the context of three historical stages: the pop-up or process instituent, the formative or process of institutionalization and consolidation, with some reflections on a general balance of the system today. It is necessary to point out that the University that gave rise to this model in Mexico, is the Xochimilco unit at the Metropolitan Autonomous University. It also should be noted, that the Modular system has 37 years of evolution and is located at the crossroads of associate with the model, ICT, spearhead of the technological revolution in information and communication. Finely we emphasize that the model has spread in some universities of our country in Central and South America sisters, with relative success.
