Heat exchangers are used extensively in a variety of industrial applications, such as power plants, air conditioning, refrigeration, the oil and gas, and petrochemical sectors. Air-cooled exchangers, plate heat exchangers, and tube heat exchangers are a few of its commonly utilized varieties. The usage of various nanofluid types in heat exchangers is covered in detail in the first section of the article, along with an explanation of the guidelines that govern the research. In the second part, the preparation methods of nanofluids are mentioned. The results of the researches demonstrated that temperature, particle count, type of base fluid, and nanofluid flow through the heat exchanger are the primary factors in enhancing the thermal characteristics of nanofluid; numerous researchers have concentrated on the two-stage approach. Finally, nanofluids were used in different heat exchangers and the results were summarized.
