PREVENTION OF CERVICAL CANCER: THE PRISON AS A HEALTH PROMOTER SPACE
Abstract
The female inmate is a vulnerable population to don´t make the preventive exam and, this way, for the cervical cancer. It is a experience report about an educational strategy applied in a Fortaleza´s female prison. The educational intervention was made with a total 25 participants. In the first phase it was used a picture book and in the second phase through the demonstration of the exam in an anatomical model. This intervention was a effective interactive strategy of health education calling the attention of the prisoners, stimulating critical debate about the prevention of cervical cancer and giving the opportunity to clarify the doubts. This strategy was a transformation instrument of a prison space in a health promoter space, giving a opportunity for this women to reflect about their role in promotion sexual and reproductive health to develop healthy habits when they are at liberty.
