HISTORY AND EDUCATION: THE CIVILIZATION PROCESS IN NORBERT ELIAS
Abstract
The present article intends to do a discussion around the relationship between history and education. The analysis of the first volume of the German sociologist's Norbert Elias book, The Civilizer Process, brings the education as part of a conditioning in that the men, particularly the Europeans, in a space of more than five centuries, became civilized. Considering Elias' theory that natural attitude doesn't exist in the man, the historical process of teaching-learning became, also, essential to the call development of the manners of conduct and responsible direct for the formation of a civilization model that dispersed for the world.
