Health facilities where there is an increased risk of developing infections are under the control of the Program for the Protection of Population from Infectious Diseases also. The program has been implemented since 1978 through activities of epidemiology, hygiene and health promotion. The adoption of the new Regulation on the Protection of Population Against Infectious Diseases (2016) was used to make changes through the Guidance for Survey Methodology that were deemed to be able to be implemented. Healthy drinking water, adequate sanitation and hygiene (WASH) in health institutions contribute to improving the quality of care, prevention and control of infections, suppression of antimicrobial resistance and meeting the SDG 6: Objectives for ensuring accessibility and sustainable water management and sanitation for all and SDG 3: Providing a healthy life and promoting prosperity for all in all ages.
