Objective: To evaluate the use of the ILAS medical monitoring protocol, facing a possible diagnosis of sepsis and the first 6 hours of sepsis. Methods: Qualitative type of field research with a descriptive approach, performed in a high complexity hospital located in the city of Anápolis – Goiás. Physicians were surveyed in the Intensive Care Unit and Emergency Hospital they should be part of the body clinical hospital. Results: It was found that all participants in the medical research are based on some sort of protocol for sepsis control and 66.6% use recommended by the ILAS and only 22.2% of the physicians are unaware of the existence of a written protocol in their workplace. It was also noted that many of the interviewees are aware of all questions recommended in the protocol. Among then, 88,8% administer antibiotics for an hour in the Intensive Care Unit or three hours in the emergency hospital or could answer if the value obtained above 70% were obtained when harvested SvO2 . Regarding the protocol of accession package within the first six hours of service, 100% of respondents say harvest the blood lactate and blood culture before antibiotic. Conclusion: It was concluded that the knowledge and use of clinical protocols by physicians are already significant, although the institutionalization of a protocol was not found. The protocol should be an aid instrument in a context where clinical experience should be integrated with critically and rationally scientific information in order to improve the quality of medical care.
