La traduction explicative en contexte universitaire : représentations, apport et impact
Abstract
Le présent travail se donne pour objectif de s’intéresser au recours à la langue maternelle en contexte académique. En effet, les universités algériennes ayant des spécialités scientifiques didactisent les savoirs empiriques à travers l’usage de la langue française. Or, certains étudiants trouvent des difficultés à comprendre les Cours Magistraux dispensés en cette langue. Nous supposons que le recours à la langue maternelle serait une technique pratique pour les enseignants de s’assurer que leur cours a été bien assimilé. Pour vérifier cette hypothèse, nous avons procédé à une double investigation, une auprès des étudiants de première année filière informatique à l’université d’Alger 1 et une autre auprès de leurs enseignants à la faculté. Les résultats de cette enquête semblent répondre à notre problématique et notre hypothèse suggérée et peuvent ouvrir d’autres pistes de recherche concernant l’apport de la traduction comme stratégie d’enseignement. Abstract The aim of the present study is to examine the use of the mother tongue in an academic context. Indeed, Algerian universities with scientific specialties use French to teach empirical knowledge. However, some students find it difficult to understand the lectures given in this language. In this study, we speculate that the transition from scholarly knowledge to taught knowledge through recourse to the mother tongue is a practical technique for teachers to ensure that their lectures have been well mastered. To verify our hypothesis, we carried out a double investigation, one with first-year computer science students at the University of Algiers 1, and another with their teachers of the same faculty. The results of this survey seem to respond to our questioning and suggested hypothesis, and may open up other paths of research into the contribution of translation as a teaching strategy.
