The purpose of this article is to show the present condition of citizenship as well as the most interesting debates and the most outstanding problems involved. I must say, however, that due to the space available, it must be just a mere introductory and panoramic view. I will also warn out that my outlook will be a philosophical and legal one. I would not consider fact and situations -which is a task specially meant for Social Sciences- so much as the meaning and defining features of the concept citizenship at this very moment, and the legal proposals on how these civil conditions should be dealt with.
