Foreign Language Education in Ukraine: Myths and Reality

Abstract

comparative analysis of foreign and Ukrainian educational standards and programs in foreign languages for low secondary school, the components of a foreign language teaching kit and the standards of foreign language teachers training. It is concluded that all of these state documents in the field of language teaching developed in Ukraine on the whole correspond to the international models. The ways of improving them are proposed. It is also shown that the absence of the training foreign language teachers state standards have a negative impact on the quality of students’ foreign language education.
