Aim. To study the results of the course and outcomes of the gestational period and childbirth in women with pregravid overweight, depending on the weight gain during pregnancy. Materials and methods. Using the continuous sampling method, we con-ducted a retrospective study of the results of pregnancy and childbirth in 291 women with initially pregravid excess body weight. The influence of the overall weight gain during the gestation period was assessed in 23 parameters reflecting the complications of pregnancy and childbirth. Results. The determination of the relative risk showed no positive relationship between the indicators characterizing the complications of the gestational period (gestational arterial hypertension, gestational diabetes mellitus) and childbirth in women with the recommended weight gain during pregnancy, with similar data in the group of women with reduced and increased body weight gain. Conclusion. Further studies are needed to study in more detail the observed relationships and predict risk factors for the occurrence of meta-bolically associated complications of the gestational period and childbirth in women with excessive pregravid body weight.
