On the concentration of phraseological units as idiostyle method (based on the prose of M. A. Sholokhov)
Abstract
in the study we consider the phenomenon of concentrated use of phraseological units (PhU) in M. A. Sholokhov’s fiction as a stylistic technique characteristic of the writer’s idiostyle. Each context has the ability to actualize certain aspects of phraseological semantics and create semantic changes. However, the juxtaposition of several phraseological units in the Russian language is atypical which is explained by their very nature limiting the combinable potencies: the original imagery, expressiveness and integrity of meaning. However, M.A. Sholokhov often resorts to the use of occasional combinability on the PhU + PhU model in order to intensify imagery and enhance the expressive effect. The writer deliberately increases the length of the text is due to “stringing” of phraseology, their occasional compatibility among themselves, resulting in reaches gain aesthetic features in his works: updates, additions and extensions of the image; gives a speech characteristic of characters. Various types of amplification and the inclusion of phraseological units in text paradigms also contribute to the intensification of the figurative and expressive potential of the narrative. Taking into account the fact that phraseological units are linguistic units characterized by original imagery and expressiveness, their potential to increase the artistic effect by organizing phraseological units according to a certain syntactic model is very significant and promising. The analysis of M.A. Sholokhov’s fiction allows to speak about careful work of the writer on development of concentration of phraseological units as stylistic reception. In early works, the concentration of phraseological units, which is simpler in terms of structural and semantic organization, is more often observed. In later works of the writer the tendency to its complication is traced.
