Re-reading the Approach of Contemporary Islamic Scholars to Gender-based Education: Fitness, Balance and Complementary Model
Abstract
This research was administrated with the purpose of studying the concept of gender and explaining the gender differences, gender-based education and Islamic approach to gender differences according to new studies. The research method was descriptive and analytical based on relevant sources and literature on the subject. The results of study showed that neglect of gender differences in education of girls and boys, regardless of ultimate goal of Islamic education undermines the individuality of people in social, economic, cultural and educational dimensions, and makes it impossible to achieve to the defined educational final goals in this approach. The philosophy of focus on Islamic approach to gender differences is paying attention to development and actualization in personal, family and social domains in achieving to excellency in accordance with gender requirements. Partial separation in the subsystem of education or if it is possible, designing two separate systems of education in accordance with the model of fitness, balance and complementary of two gender roles, are important in displaying different and suitable paths in achieving to unique goal.
