MONSTRATION AS A FORM OF SOCIAL AND POLITICAL ACTIVITY OF TODAY’S YOUTH

Abstract

The article is devoted to the analysis of the contemporary urban street protests which are the form of social and political activity of today’s youth. The authors pay special attention to the phenomenon of “Monstration” that is still poorly understood by social and political science, but every year is actively getting more popular among the youth. The characteristic features of the phenomenon under investigation are allocated and described. The article brings some results of studying the phenomenon of “Monstration” on the basis of the authors’ qualitative research which is a deep interview with 25 respondents, the main organizer of the event being A. Loskutov. The authors come to the conclusion that monstration with its content and its organization often contains some elements of the political event.
