This article aims to discuss some contributions that sociohistorical psychology can offer to the professional working under at the National Social Assistance Policy system (NSAP). It’s a bibliographic research that uses the main concepts of the sociohistorical approach and some materials produced by the NSAP to problematize psychology’s practice in this context. From the analyzes performed, we defend that sociohistorical psychology is a fruitful perspective can subsidize an ethical and coherent practice of the NSAP, creating qualified and critical interventions to overcome the social vulnerabilities. In this way, we seek to collaborate with the articulation between the knowledge and actions in the Social Assistance, directing the psychology science to the prevention and promotion of human rights direction.
