Pathomorphogical study of pancreas biopsies of 30 patients with chronic pancreatitis was performed and four components of severe pancreatic fi brosis according to its location and orientation of collagen fi bers were identifi ed: circular-periductal fi brosis involving the large duct of the pancreas, laminar fi brosis between the large ducts and acinar tissue, as well as tape-like interlobular fi brosis and septal-periacinar intralobular fi brosis. It is shown that the development of severe pancreatic fi brosis is promoted by proliferation and increase of α-SMA +, vimentin+, desmin + stellate cells amount that synthesize excess components of fi ber-molecular matrix, as well as depositing of signifi cant amount of collagen I, III, IV types and fi bronectin in pancreas.
