Relationship between Self-esteem, Social Support with Mental health in Shahid Chamran University students of Ahvaz

Mental health as an important source of personal growth and positive, social and economic students are involved. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between self-esteem and social support and mental health among Shahid Chamran University students of Ahvaz was conducted. 400 students of Chamran University students resident in dormitories using multi-stage random sampling were selected. Participants completed Rosenberg Self-esteem Scale, Perceived Social Support Scale and General Health Questionnaire. The present study is correlation and was used statistics methods simple correlation coefficient and multiple regression analysis that were analyzed by SPSS-16 software. The findings indicated that self-esteem, and social support, have positive significant relationship with mental health in whole and in male and female students. The regression analyzes showed that self-esteem and social support variables were significant predictors of mental health in whole and in male and female students. Accordingly, it is necessary to University officials and managers in environments of student focus on respect to the character and value to students and supports them in their various aspects.
