AbstractThis research aim is to provide knowledge about the relationship between the two variables: Ponzi scheme and multi-level marketing. The contribution of these findings certainly provides very useful and important information for the people in Indonesia regarding the relationship between “Ponzi schemes” and multi-level marketing, through the findings of scientific studies. Research was conducted using quantitative methods. The data collection technique used questionnaires and literature studies on victims of money game fraud, Ponzi schemes, and multi-level marketing in Surabaya, Indonesia. The results found that the Ponzi scheme is related to multi-level marketing. Ponzi schemes share the same trait, which are to raise money through the continuous recruitment of new members. Multi-level marketing and single-level marketing business actors must be careful in running their business in Indonesia. This is because there is a criminal threat of 10 years in prison and/or a maximum fine of IDR 10 billion for harming consumers.
