In the period between 1998-2000 studies were conducted on the influence of three levels of nitrogen fertilization: 50, 100, and 150 kg N/ha, on the yield and quality of five spring wheat cultivars: ‘Broma‘, ‘Ismena‘, ‘Jasna‘, and ‘Torka‘. The investigations were carried out at the Felin Experimental Station, Lublin. The yield of grain and the harvest index and the total content of protein and wet gluten in the grain was determined. An increase in the level of nitrogen fertilization did not change the grain yield, however, it increased the content of protein and gluten. Among the five cultivars, the highest yield was observed in ‘Jasna‘ and ‘Broma‘, and the highest content of protein and gluten was found in the ‘Kontesa‘ grain.
