The Indian Community in Ho Chi Minh City - The bridge for relationship between Vietnam and Indian in current period
Abstract
Vietnam and India are the two countries having early and age-old relationship in history: from the cultural exchange relation through the spread of religions dated back to earlier centuries to the multilateral international relation in the 21st century. This relationship is continuously tested and nourished by the Government and people of the two countries. Among the elements making the close linkage for the relationship, the presence of the Indian community in Ho Chi Minh City plays an important role. Although the Indian community in Ho Chi Minh City is not as large as that in other Southeast Asian countries, it has contributed to the cultural exchange with the Vietnamese and other ethnic groups; attracted FDI from India, etc, which tightens the good relationship between Vietnam and India in the new period of development. The paper “The Indian community in Ho Chi Minh City – the bridge for relationship between Vietnam and India in current period” includes 2 parts: 1. Introduction of the Indian community in Ho Chi Minh City 2. The role of the Indian community in Ho Chi Minh City in the relation between Vietnam and India.
