« À la fin forcément Baudelaire est vivant » : sacralisation poétique et retours de Baudelaire, d’un centenaire à l’autre

The crisis of lyricism which divides the twentieth century in two did not make Baudelaire's aura disappear. The beginning of the twenty-first century even saw a revival of Baudelaireanism in the form of tributes intended to reveal Baudelaire's gift to poetry, while at the same time strengthening, despite obvious interpretative dissensions, the links of a Baudelairean community. This moment of fervor invites us to reconsider the - often discussed - idea of a Baudelairian influence on the 20th century, and to consider, in a synchronic manner, a feature common to all the late receptions of his work. From Pierre Jean Jouve to Yves Bonnefoy, the reference to Baudelaire appears as a cult. This is why the reception of Baudelaire deserves to be considered from the angle of a poetics of sacralization. This article takes as its object the modalities of Baudelaire's presence, to highlight an economy of resistance and acceptance in the recognition of this shadow cast over a whole century.
