The aim of this study is to ratify the importance of metalinguistic CAPABILITIES in developing literacy. Having worked with children in the first year of primary school, we were able to reconfirm the concept that development of these skills followed a phonological awareness, syllable and semantic sequence. One needs to develop the metalinguistic capabilities to promote and improve literacy for the better. This behavior could be observed in the workshop. With time and as soon as children became older, they found it easier to perform this kind of speech segmentation activities.
