The expanding horizons of knowledge production in the social and human sciences have caused many shifts on language as a source and as a form of communication of scientific research. In the field of Education for Youth and Adults, the area of oral language has been dominant as a source of research, particularly with respect to the duality between orality and literacy and learning processes in literacy and language. Based on the activities carried out with young people and adult learners in public school in the urban periphery, in the state of Rio de Janeiro, we interrogate and analyze the possibilities of exchange between oral language and language dual images mobilized by the experiences of youth and adults in the production of meaning and learning in the school context.
