In the 1960s, the region first in the RSFSR in infectious diseases due to the lack of health facilities, qualified personnel, as well as water, sewage and public baths, systems of cleaning settlements from debris and dirt. The paper considers the problem of medical systems and their logistics, staff policy and sanitary and epidemic measures for improving the settlements; these issues were vigorously addressed in the 1970s. All this led to the victory over trachoma, diphtheria, and typhus, and reducing the incidence of acute intestinal infections by 1991. Despite the measures taken and the fact that significant funds were spent on the health system, in the 1980s the epidemiological situation in the area remained tense. A separate topic that requires attention is tuberculosis, common especially among the indigenous population, the problem has not been solved. The government policy on oil-and-gas development of Tyumen region was successful and gave impetus to the social development of the region, while the infrastructure was significantly behind the industrial development.
