A IMAGEM NAS IMAGENS: LEITURAS ICONOLÓGICAS
Abstract
– In this article we present some assumptions about the image and its use over the 15th and 18th centuries. We will demonstrate that today imagetic information from that period is lost due the lack of knowledge of iconological elements, so we discuss the methods of conceptualizing and the allegorical imagery employed by Cesare Ripa, in his Iconologia. This consisted of a multi-meaning manual, employed by painters, sculptors and poets. Thus, from the work of this Italian theorist of the 16th century, we find the relevance of the concept of iconology, employed by Panofsky, confronting artistic works that have the same traits iconology.
