Very short time intervals between successive innovations made people aware of technology impact, and decision makers stimulated to presume and forecast effects of progress in different areas. Traditional functional concept of the innovation process is a linear set of activities, the value of which can be estimated only at the end. Segmented approach is based on the outcome, and it gives better idea of the project value and it clearly shows which measures are to be taken before the decision is made: go forward or not! This Approach is using current information to estimate "value of the Project".
