Kalmyks in Geostrategic Plans of Russia of the 17th Century
Abstract
In the article the Russia’s policy towards the Kalmyks in Time of Troubles at the beginning of the 17 century is considered. Despite difficult internal and external situation, Russia has expressed interest in the Kalmyks, seeing them as the reliable allies, who might reinforce socium of the developing Russian state. Mutual interests of both parties led to the voluntary entering of the Kalmyks in the Russian state where they actively were involved in the implementation of its geostrategic tasks.
