Non-vitamin K antagonist oral anticoagulants are effective for prevention of stroke in atrial fibrillation (AF) but management of emergency situations in some patients receiving these drugs can be challenging. Idarucizumab, a specific reversal agent for dabigatran approved in many countries is also available in India. However, there is limited data for its use in Indian patients. We are reporting successful use of idarucizumab in an elderly female patient on dabigatran for prevention of stroke in AF.
