This study examines the effect of increasing rates of nitrogen on the productive traits of four cultivars of spring malting barley: Kraguj, Dunavac, Uroš and Slavko. Nitrogen rates of 0, 60, 80 and 100 kg ha-1 were applied. In the treatments with nitrogen, 90 kg ha-1 P2O5 and K2O were also added. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of nitrogen nutrition on the productive characteristics of spring malting barley. The results show that the use of nitrogen had a positive effect on the productive characteristics of spring malting barley in all treatments and in all cultivars. Different responses of the studied cultivars to the application of fertilizers are the result of their genotype characteristics.
