Management of bright solitons in tapered power-law nonlinear media
Abstract
The self-similar propagation properties of bright solitons in tapered power-law nonlinear media are investigated analytically. The effect of different dispersion and nonlinearity profiles on the soliton propagation process is analyzed in detail. Our results show that the bright solitons can be compressed and broadened in dispersion-decreasing and dispersion-periodic nonlinear media by designing the coefficient parameters. In particular, we discuss the relevant conditions of system parameters for soliton propagation, and obtain the analytical expressions of regions of soliton compression and broadening. The stability of bright solitons has also been tested by numerical simulations. These results may have potential applications to control soliton propagations in tapered power-law nonlinear media.
