On some specifics of Sarić's Mitar's Amerika: The share of fantasy in the character building of Mitar Glušica
Abstract
The novel Mitar's America of Petar Sarić is his latest (we believe not the last novel) from 2012, by which he introduced novelties in his well-known poetics up to then either on physical plan (by displacing of myth-poetic space of Banjan, characteristic for his previous novels) or on metaphysic one (as problematizing of human alienation and issues of his identity-related crises). Although this novel is not ranked in his the most successful achievements such as The Master Is Coming Tomorrow or Sara, it is, first of all, characteristic as per novelties which are introduced in his opus by Sarić, and they may be marked as postmodernist proceed with the elements of fantastic, irrational and somnambulant. Thus, the role and share of the fantastic building of the main character of Mitar Glušica is shown as the greatly chosen narrative procedure, which enabled the writer that, his until then realistic view of the world, to be perceived through the prism of fantasy.
