With the further development of smart grid construction, more and more studies on the plug-and-play of IEC 61850-based smart distribution terminals geared towards the needs of object modeling and IoT communication protocols are being undertaken at home and abroad. However, there are fewer studies related to plug-and-play and interoperability testing, which brings difficulty to the testing of intelligent distribution terminals in the process of promotion and application. Therefore, the application demand of communication middleware for new power distribution systems is analyzed, and a plug-and-play and interoperability testing architecture for intelligent power distribution terminals based on DDS (data distribution service) is proposed. Furthermore, a testing management system for intelligent power distribution terminals is developed based on this architecture. Application tests are conducted in a laboratory environment and engineering practice, which has yielded the desired result. The research provides testing conditions and experimental methods for promoting and applying intelligent power distribution terminals. It also offers technical support for the construction of new-type distribution systems.
