Abstract
This paper analyses a particular dimension of urban space, as it is perceived in its socioeconomic and spatial relations concerning Curitiba's low income population and the city's metropolitan area. By investigating the relation mechanisms developed between this population, more specifically, the metropolitan area population and the state capital, we examine the Public Metropolitan Transportation Integrated System (Rede Integrada de Transporte Metropolitano) as a basic component in the urban dynamics, as seen from the perspective of relations among collective equipment and facilities, workers, employment and governmental actions. Based on the verification of an existing concentration of productive activities and greater job opportunities in Curitiba and, on the other hand, the availability of low value properties in its metropolitan area, it is possible to analyse the production relations as an advantageous component _for research purposes_ of its urban environment, in which a process of social exclusion and labor integration becomes evident.
