Morphological analysis of the pre-industrial Paris (streets and parcels in a GIS), crossed with the archeological and historical data, allows to understand the evolution of the use of the land in the capital between Antiquity and Middle Ages. During this period, the relationship of the societies with the river was moved by culturel changement, which found expression in the swing oh urban centrality from the left bank to the right one, and in the lasting transformation of the street-network (emergence of the diagonal from the harbour of the Grève up to the Halles). The concepts of archeogeography are used to explain these evolutions.
