The Vertebral artery is the first branch of subclavian artery. It is an important source of blood supply to the brain. During dissection of an adult male cadaver, a unilateral variation in the course of Vertebral artery was found. The right Vertebral artery took origin from the subclavian artery and entered foramen transversarium of fourth cervical vertebra. An understanding of the variability of the Vertebral artery remains most important in angiography & surgical procedures where an incomplete knowledge of its anatomy can lead to complications.
