Once Again About the Perspectives of Indo-Iranian Onomastic Studies (Revisiting the Discussion between the Historian and the Linguist)

Abstract

The article is an analytical response to the critical review by S. Verbych on several etymologies of domestic hydronyms, advocated by the author in previous articles. Drawing on the data of Indo-Iranian linguistic and cultural tradition, the author further argues his position, calls into question the traditional interpretation of a number of toponyms and hydronyms, analyzes methodological approaches and prospects for the development of the national onomastic science.
