Quem tem medo de Athena?

Abstract

In Fernando Pessoa's private library, there is a copy of the magazine Athena that is significant in several respects. This article offers, for the first time, a complete transcription of Pessoa's marginalia in the copy. Based on this transcription, the main reference works in Pessoa studies are analyzed, with the aim of determining which of them take into account the corrections inscribed in the author’s personal copy. This study seeks to contribute to clarifying the status of marginalia, the concept of a work, and the implications for editing, particularly through the transcription variants in the reference editions. The study concludes by advocating the relevance of marginalia in the editor's decision-making process.
