PSL Quarterly Review (Jan 2014)
Inflation and interest
Abstract
The paper deals with inflation in several countries at the same time, starting from the analysis contained in a previous essay on “world inflation”. The author revises his opinion on the relative weight of special causes vis-á-vis general trends. The main conclusion is that there is a “world inflation” not reducible to the behaviour of any one country. Moreover, there is sufficient uniformity among countries to be able to describe such phenomenon with a particular model, based on Wicksell’s “Interest and Prices”. JEL: E31, E43, E37, E47
