Beginnings of formalized steam navigation in Russian Empire and Kingdom of Poland

The aim of this article is to analyze formal establishment of steam navigation on rivers of Russian Empire and Kingdom of Poliand. With regard to Russia, it was shown here as follows: a) general transport regulations as of July of 1843, b) privileges for steam navigation in the capital - St. Petersburg as of June of 1843, c) tsar’s government agreement for such transport held in Volga and Kama, dated as of February of 1844. While describing situation in Kingdom of Poland, there were presented: a) both contract between government and private entrepreneur for steam navigation on the Vistula River and other navigable rivers, dated as of September of 1846 and its renewal in 1856, b) number of issues related to the practical operation of this form of steam navigation transport.
