In my study I discuss possible connections between the German composer Richard Wagner and the Swedish far right. Journals and internet pages from organizations of the late 20th and early 21st century are my major sources. When Wagner is mentioned – his music or theoretical works – it is with sympathy and admiration. However, these occasions are very rare. The impact Wagner exerts on contemporary right organizations seems to be very limited. At the same time extreme right music is to some extent influenced by the 19th century Romantic culture. Indirectly more than directly there can be connections to the German composer. Despite these circumstances there is a widespread view in the cultural debate that there exist profound and obvious ties. Emphazising these obscure, unexplained relations gives an opportunity to maintain the demonic enchantment associated with Wagner. The myths, so to speak, live their own lives, despite facts pointing in other directions.
