Construction et composition des recueils français du XVe siècle : apports de la codicologie quantitative
Abstract
The study of a sample of 37 manuscript miscellanies from the French collection of the BnF dated from the 15th century shows the importance of composite manuscripts made of booklets. Miscellanies could result from the reunion of such booklets, whose contents were often homogeneous and limited to one or a few texts. This study also reveals a tendency to order texts by length, in individual booklets as in whole collections. The shortest texts often have a key function because they can add diversity into a collection, or as extracts of popular works.
