The theoretical foundations used in my historical research in nursing are framed within the sociology of professions and within it, the notion of professionalism. The history of the professionalization of nursing has more to do with the historical or socio externalist perspective, ie to look at the evolution of society from the perspective of nursing and from there to contribute to improving the health of the people. Memory is the dimension of the story that legitimates, supplies and cohesive identity to give meaning. We are talking about a temporal and spatial memory, which is essential for reconstructing the history of nursing anywhere in the world. Identify aspects of reality not visible to the naked eye, is something that conventional sources can not achieve and which does not help us much oral testimony. The personal interview is thus basic. Finally, I want to research the history of nursing from the examination of my own experiences. The most significant projects, based on the theoretical foundation and the methodology used can be: History of Nursing in Colombia and Living Heritage School of Nursing at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia.
