Desenvolvimento de coleções: uma visão para o planejamento nas bibliotecas jurídicas brasileiras

Abstract

This work deals with the scenario of collection management in law libraries in Brazil. It aims to discuss the importance of collection development policy in this field. In order to characterize the subject, a literature review was done considering areas such as specialized libraries, collection development and law libraries. Therefore, it was possible to acknowledge that the role of the law libraries is to disseminate information, support decisions in ongoing legal proceedings. It was possible to conclude that the collection development policy is an important document that guides decisions aiming to guarantee the growth of the collection that meets user information needs as well as the libraries objectives.
