This study presents an analysis on the socio-economic indicators of the G-20 countries by principal components and cluster analysis, in order to detect associations or similarities between the nations. The results concerning variables that characterize the social aspects were in line with expectations, allowing the formation of groups internally homogeneous, but heterogeneous among themselves. The other results – related to economic variables – showed unexpected groups, gathering nations with very different characteristics among themselves. Generally, the countries of the G-20 confirm that a lot of dissimilarities in socio-economic indicators may exist between nations meeting a set of common interests in an international organization.
