Low sidelobe levels Terahertz microstrip antennas for bio-sensing and communications
Abstract
In this paper, we have designed a couple of microstrip antennas with low sidelobe levels (SLLs) at a resonance frequency above 115 GHz through a commercial simulator CST Microwave Studio based on finite integration technique (FIT). Further, the frequency selective surfaces (FSSs) have been added to enhance the first antenna's gain and this designed antenna has been compared via the finite-element modeling (FEM) solver such as Ansys HFSS simulator, and the simulation results achieved from both the solvers are in good agreement with each other. The simulation results of the peak gain, minimum SLLs, peak total efficiency, and bandwidth achieved are 21.14 dB, −29.6 dB, 78.3%, and more than 7.86 GHz, respectively. These designed antenna should be the right candidate in bio-sensing application for health monitoring and future generation terahertz communication systems.
